Have you ever envisioned yourself as an animal? It wouldn't be unusual to consider yourself an animal that reflects our perceived individual strengths. There is even that famous line involving Lions, Tigers, and Bears. But a Hedgehog? If you're a regular visitor of Jaycine.com, you may actually consider it a compliment.

Jaycine.com is a very well rounded site full of color and complexity. The overflowing content that makes up her ramble / journal is intimate and refreshingly honest. The style and design does vary quite widely from page to page. However, there is a strong sense of charm when invited into the "kingdom" of this well traveled "queen". Navigation is sometimes akin to a virtual Easter egg hunt, with the discovery of certain links and daily pictures a beauty to behold. A-Profiler proudly invites you to enjoy the animals of another "magic kingdom".

1) How did you come to the decision of "hedgies" / "hedgehogs" as your theme regarding readers and yourself? I saw a fat hedgehog in m's backyard in england trying to steal catfood. I also found some african pigmy ones online. I think they are adorable. I wanted to give my readers a pet name--so hedgies they are! it only seemed appropriate that I would make myself queen. =)

2) According to your "about me" page, you started the site for a number of reasons, have they all been satisfied? What's next? [to record and share my thoughts.] I think I do that with each update. [to gain an audience.] the counter says I have an audience. sure, most are looking for pendulous breasts and teenager+cheerleader+skirt--but that's an audience, right? [to vent and rant.] I do that at times. [to entertain myself and others.] I definitely entertain myself. hope I entertain others somehow or other... [to make new online friends.] I have made quite a few of these as well. there are some particular individuals, tho I have never met them, I feel I can ask for advice and opinion and shoulder and s/he will be there for me. I find that incredible and wonderful. [to be deliciously egotistical.] um, *definitely* yes. heh.

3) As it may or may not be popularly known, you met (king hedgie) M through the internet. Care to share the details to refresh the memories? Does M have a site he maintains? haha! I met m on irc the summer before my senior year at ucsd. I had decided to go to england to work abroad after my BA. why work work? travel, squander money, be irresponsible and young. so I went on irc for the first time and # england and there m was. he visited me twice at ucsd. [I did *not* tell my mum about this deviance =)] the first time we were friends, the second time we were all over each other...but still friends + extra. worked in london for six months. got kicked out of the country. separated for 7 months. m got a visa and came out to cali to be with the queen. and they lived happily ever after--for five years at least. ;)

4) Has www.goldencandy.com gone away? From it's creation thru to it's present state, what were your reasons for having it? As it progressed? my reasons for having goldencandy was because I could find nothing like it for us straight gals. so I decided to create one. I always like being reciprocally sexist any time I can. goodness knows there's a million hot Asian chick sites out there, why not have one of men for the ladies? i've been bad about updating, because I am one lazy bastard. but i'm keeping it up, for anyone who may stumble upon it in the future, for my infrequent updates, and for me me me. =)

5) Is the internet or use of technology something that controls you or do you control it? To what extent? i'm a slave to my cable modem. I think that says it all.

6) Does your site a "true representation" of you or is your virtual web-persona MUCH different from the way you express yourself in real life? hmmm, good question. I am never dishonest in my ramblings. it is a true representation of me, but in a very fragmented yet concentrated sense. I write about feelings and fears that I would not divulge to someone in person. it's difficult for me to show vulnerability to my real life friends. it's easier for me to show that side to [a faceless audience]. I am also much more vain on jaycine.com. it's a virtual vice I rather enjoy. in all honesty, I am unsure how I come across to my readers as [cyn]. it can be pretty subjective, I would venture...

7) Your site has a large amount of content, how do you maintain the consistency and discipline to update as much as you do? i'm not sure how I do it either. I am a very habitual person, and updating ramblings has become a part of my daily routine. I tried to give it a rest one day and wound up updating at 11.30pm. i'm addicted.

8) You've lived on both coasts and traveled relatively extensively, anywhere you haven't gone yet? Out of your travels/homes, what did you consider positive vs. negative in each location? i've never been to china. I don't know if I will ever go either. I have never been to australia, and m and I would like to go there and dive. nyc and the others I visited on the east coast seem to have more of a european influence. the vibe seemed more traditional, more old money and roots. nyc was intense for me-sensory overload. more stressful. more chic. More class and brand name conscious. i'm a cali girl through and through, give me pacific blue and some really ugly comfortable clothes, a nice car, great cds, and i'll drive my ass into the sunset. we are definitely a more laid back and health conscious crowd--at least the young folk. and lots of new money floating around...

9) Are you ever worried about overexposure, or ever have highly negative experiences as a result of the site? overexposure? what's that?! can an online journaler ever feel overexposed?! I did have the famous [attack on the Asian chick daring to spread her legs to a white man] via goldencandy.com it really made me angry, that some random guys who happened to share my skin color felt they could tell me who to love or marry! not to mention completely degrade their Asian sistahs and themselves... but I got over it. taught me an interesting lesson indeed...

10) How are you hoping to see yourself and M ten years from now? Will Jaycine.com still be up? lovely house, two kids [one girl one boy] a couple of schnauzers or some terrier like doggies, comfortable, traveling a lot, beautiful garden, etc etc. I do hope jaycine.com is still up. i'll continue to buy the domain even if it isn't. maybe i'll have naked pix on there? heh.
